For overseas online retailers, bathroom brands, and importers, importing basin faucets from China involves more than simply comparing prices. You also need to consider product style, quality, certifications, specifications, supply capability, and after-sales service.

If these factors are not checked carefully in advance, you may discover only after the goods arrive that the products do not suit local consumer preferences or fail to meet local standards or installation requirements. More seriously, unstable product quality can result in high costs for returns, repairs, and after-sales service.

Therefore, before placing an order, we recommend paying particular attention to the following seven factors.

  1. Check Product Specifications to Avoid Installation Mismatches

When sourcing basin faucets, do not select products based solely on product images. Make sure to check the complete technical specifications in advance.

Key specifications include:

• Mounting hole diameter and the number of mounting holes

• Faucet height and spout length

• Inlet hose length, material, and connection specifications

• Working water pressure range and flow rate per minute

• Cartridge material and specifications

In particular, mounting hole diameters and inlet connection specifications may vary between countries and markets.

  2. Pay Attention to Raw Materials and Manufacturing Processes

Basin faucets may be made from different materials, including brass, stainless steel, zinc alloy, and plastic. For brass and stainless steel faucets, you should also check the specific material grade, manufacturing process, and materials used for different components.

For example:

• What material is the faucet body made of?

• What materials are used for water-carrying components?

• What is the cartridge made of?

• What material is used for the inlet hoses?

• What materials are used for other internal components, especially the aerator, and are they resistant to high temperatures?

For faucets, material, structural design, manufacturing maturity, and overall quality should be considered together. Product quality should not be judged solely by the material of the faucet body.

  3. Clarify the Certifications Required in the Target Market in Advance

Regulatory and certification requirements for faucets vary from country to country.

Therefore, before sourcing, first determine which certifications are required in the target market.

Before placing an order, confirm whether the certification covers the specific product models being purchased and whether the certification is still valid.

  4. Pay Close Attention to the Cartridge and Internal Components

Although the cartridge is hidden inside the faucet, it is one of the key components affecting product service life and the customer experience.

An unstable or poor-quality cartridge may cause:

• The faucet to continue dripping after being turned off

• The handle to feel stiff or operate unevenly

When purchasing, it is recommended to confirm the cartridge brand, model, dimensions, and quality test results. Where necessary, you can also request a certain quantity of spare cartridges for replacing products affected by quality issues.

  5. Pay Attention to Surface Finishing, Not Just Color

Surface finishing is also an important factor in product durability.

For example, even when the same colors, such as matte black or brushed gold, are used, products finished by electroplating and PVD may have significant differences in surface quality.

When sourcing, it is recommended to confirm:

• Whether the surface finish is traditional electroplating, spray coating, or PVD

• The color standard and acceptable color difference

• Salt spray testing requirements

• Surface adhesion and coating thickness

• How color consistency is maintained between different production batches and even after different components are assembled

  6. Confirm MOQ, Lead Time, and Supply Capability

When selecting a supplier, buyers should not focus only on the unit price. They should also verify the supplier's qualifications and whether the supplier can provide products consistently over the long term.

Make sure to clarify in advance:

• Minimum order quantity (MOQ) for the product

• MOQ for customized colors

• MOQ for customized packaging

• MOQ for customized components

• Production lead time, transportation time, and customs clearance and warehousing time

• Inventory availability of key components

Customized products often have much higher MOQs than standard products.

If the order quantity is small but special colors, special packaging, or customized components are required, the supplier may need to extend the lead time due to insufficient stock or may significantly increase the MOQ.

Therefore, confirm the MOQ and lead time before finalizing the order to avoid production difficulties later.

  7. Confirm Quality Control and After-Sales Responsibilities Before Ordering

Finally, pay attention to the supplier's quality control system and after-sales procedures.

Buyers should clarify in advance:

• Whether every product is 100% pressure tested

• Whether appearance inspections are conducted before shipment

• Whether there is a sampling inspection standard for finished products

• Whether the packaging has been tested

• How the supplier handles quality issues

• What the warranty period is

• Whether spare parts can be supplied over the long term and whether a certain quantity of wear parts or spare parts can be provided

For faucets, appearance inspection alone is not sufficient. Internal issues such as leakage or an improperly aligned water outlet may not be visible from the outside. Therefore, pressure testing and functional testing are very important.

At the same time, it is recommended to clarify after-sales responsibilities before confirming the order and to ensure that appropriate product liability insurance is in place, rather than waiting until a quality issue occurs to discuss who will bear the costs of product replacement, transportation, and labor.
